Marcus' Thoughts on the big fights.

Marcus' MMA Thoughts
- Posted by: some hot dude named Marcus

Since I've been awake for about twelve hours now and am tired as hell, I'm just going to touch on some MMA related subjects and get my thoughts out there.

[ULTIMATE FIGHTER SEASON 10: Heavyweights]

First off, before anyone rants and fucking raves about Kimbo Slice being on there to get ratings, keep in mind that the purpose of TUF is to bring more and more people into MMA fandom, and to do that, you need ratings. I have no reason to think that Dana White has lied to us about anything in this season, or past seasons. For example-

Remember Junie Browning? Yeah, he did a lot of shit to get himself kicked off, and didn't. Why? Because he had isssues that alcohol brought out, but he had potential (unlike that Shane kid with the bad alkie tolerance). He also needed to learn a lesson about losing, and to get over that big fear he had. That's why Dana kept him on.

When it comes to Kimbo, do I think Dana would kick him off? Hell yeah. Keep in mind that Dana is waiting for Kimbo to prove him wrong. If Kimbo is really just some overrated hack (which I think is the truth) and doesn't deserve a UFC contract, then he'll lose, and if he does something stupid, his ass is gone. Not to mention, the dude who beats him will probably still be a ratings draw, because you know he's going to throw that in people's faces.

[UFC 100 - Marcus' Predictions]

Hendo vs Bisping - Truth be told, I want Hendo to win this fight. Truth be told, Hendo got stuck with the American unsigned fighter equivalent of a deuce and a seven, whereas Bisping may as well have gotten a seven and a nine of spades with a perfect river. Truth be told, I think Rich Franklin would have had better success, but hindsight is always 20/20.

Truth be told though, I think Bisping will more than likely win this fight, but I'm just going by statistics. Bisping is confident, younger, and a bit more versatile, but it will be a war.

Bisping by Unanimous Decision, or 3rd round KO.

GSP vs Thiago Alves - Oui Oui Canadian! I'm so sick of GSP at this point, I want him to get destroyed. Why, you ask? Simple. He gets talked up more than B.J. Penn, and is just as overrated. I think he greases illegally. I think I've whupped every moron who plays UFC 2009 Undisputed as him too much for me to think of GSP in a positive light anymore.

The main reason though? Thiago Alves has more heart and determination at this point. I mean, this is a guy who walked into the octagon and simply thought one thing - I'm going to wreck Matt Hughes. Then he did it. He wrecked the most dominant champ in UFC history like it was an afterthought. It's time for GSP to lose, and lose hard. Good luck, Thiago.

Alves in 2nd round KO by clinch knees.

Brock Lesnar vs Frank Mir - This will be the battle of the two worst trash talkers in UFC history, mostly because these guys are two damn babyfaced to come off as trash talkers. Either way, the same thing won't happen twice, on either side of the fence. I think the bout will end one way or the other, so here's the predictions:

Brock Lesnar by KO in Round 3 or Frank Mir by Triangle in Round 2

[LYOTO MACHIDA vs SHOGUN RUA]

First off, anyone who says that this is going to be a quick fight on either side is not thinking.

Second, anyone who is hopping on Machida's pecker after the Evans fight is a fairweather fan. There, I said it. Why? Because let's face it, Lyoto Machida beat an overhyped fighter in Rashad Evans. Why is Evans overhyped? Because his biggest accomplishment is beating a Chuck Liddell that is way outside of his prime, and has about 1/4th the chin he used to. If he were half the fighter he was hyped up to be, he would have destroyed Ortiz. Didn't happen. Didn't happen for Machida either.

Either way, neither man who walked into UFC 98 were proven fighters. Now, Machida is up against Shogun Rua. Rua has defeated a laundry list of amazing fighters, such as:

Chuck Liddell (beating a Liddell that was in seemingly better shape than the Evans Fight in his training)
Mark Coleman (coming off of a knee injury)
Kevin Randleman
Antonio Nogueira (HUGE win)
Rampage Jackson (busted Rampage's ribs with ONE knee)
Alistair Overseem (twice)
Ricardo Arona

So, in that idea, don't start saying that "Machida is teh bestorz! Hez gunna KTFO Shogun!" This fight is not going to be easy for anyone.

Now, down to the meat of things. This fight is going to be a war. You've got the most elusive fighter in MMA fighting a man who has the most unavoidable knees in MMA, and specializes in close quarters. Essentially, the elusive vs the unescapable. It will be a war.

Essentially, this fight can go many ways. Either could KO or Submit each other at any point, or they could have a draw. Hell, they could re-inact the fight from They Live for all I care. All I know is that it will be a great fight. I don't have a prediction for this one, but I will be rooting for Shogun, because I really want him to get back in the saddle that he was on in PRIDE and run rampant. I think Liddell was a great start, but he's gotta keep up the momentum.
